Bowmans Forest Murmungee
Welcome to the history of NE Victoria’s earliest permanent Squatter’s run occupied by William Bowman in 1838. Located 10 kms south of Beechworth it contained the track that 1000’s travelled back and forth to the Buckland Gold Field in the 1850’s. Its colourful history encapsulates the forces that made rural Victoria; “Gold, Grog and Good Ground”. The local community of Bowmans Forest/ Murmungee would like to share some the experiences that our “Pioneers” underwent in forging today’s world.
